Good Projects Are Phenomenon
Phenomenon Capital writes $25,000 to $250,000 into early-stage crypto teams, and more when the project earns it. No sector mandate, no investment committee, and a real reply within 48 hours.
Our usual range. Larger checks are a conversation, not a rule change.
To a real reply on anything sent to deals@phecapital.xyz.
From first call to signed terms when we decide to move.
What we write
Most projects sit between $25,000 and $250,000. Move the marker to see how we usually structure a check at that size — and what happens past the top of the range.
Seed — alongside a lead, or co-leading a small round.
- Instrument
- SAFE, SAFT, or equity with a token warrant.
- Decision
- Terms within 10 days of the first call.
What we look for
We are generalists by mandate and specific by taste. Four things decide almost every check we write.
Something already running
A testnet, a contract, a prototype, a community that showed up before you paid for it. If you are pre-code, show us a credible path to shipping inside 90 days.
Founders who explain the mechanism
Not the market size. We want the person who can walk us through how the thing actually settles, clears, or earns, and where it breaks under load.
Value that accrues somewhere real
Fees, spread, float, or a token with a job beyond governance. We would rather back honest revenue than an emissions schedule dressed up as demand.
A reason it works now
Most crypto ideas failed once already. Tell us what changed — the cost, the infrastructure, the regulation, the behaviour — that makes this the attempt that lands.
Where we invest
We spend most of our time in four areas. The fifth line is not a formality — some of our best positions arrived unannounced.
Infrastructure
Execution layers, data availability, sequencing, bridges, restaking, and the unglamorous plumbing underneath all of it.
DeFi
Exchanges, lending, perps and derivatives, stablecoins, yield primitives, and real-world assets brought on-chain properly.
Trading and liquidity
Market structure, order flow, MEV, on-chain execution, and the tooling desks actually use during a volatile week.
Consumer and payments
Wallets, on-ramps, stablecoin rails, social and gaming economies — anywhere crypto disappears behind a product that works.
And whatever this list does not cover yet
If your project is genuinely new and does not fit a category above, send it anyway. We read everything, and the interesting things rarely arrive pre-labelled.
How a deal runs
Four steps, roughly ten days. You will know where you stand at every one of them, including when the answer is no.
-
01
You send it
Deck, repo, or a paragraph. We reply within 48 hours either way, with a reason if it is a pass.
Day 0 -
02
We talk
Forty-five minutes with the partner who would sponsor the deal. No analyst screening call first.
Day 1–2 -
03
Diligence
Code, token model, cap table, counsel. We ask our questions in one batch rather than in a slow drip.
Day 3–8 -
04
Terms and wire
Standard docs, no bespoke side letters unless you ask. Funds move once signatures land.
Day 10
After the check
A $25k check and a $250k check get the same phone number. Here is what we are actually useful for.
Liquidity and listings
Introductions to market makers, exchanges, and desks — plus a frank read on which of those conversations are worth your time at your stage.
Token design review
Supply, unlocks, incentives, and launch mechanics reviewed before you commit to them publicly, while the numbers can still change.
The next round
We reserve capital for follow-ons and make warm introductions to the funds that lead your next raise, with an honest note attached.
Hiring and counsel
Protocol engineers, security auditors, and lawyers who have done crypto work before and will not bill you to learn it.
Send us the project
One paragraph beats a polished deck. Tell us what you are building, what is live, and what you are raising. We read every message and reply within 48 hours.
